General Info

Located at R. Maestro David de Sousa 42, 3080-174 Figueira da Foz, Portugal, Sabores A Lenha feels like the kind of place you stumble upon once and then keep coming back to. It’s a welcoming restaurant with a relaxed diner-style atmosphere where locals and tourists naturally mix, creating an easygoing vibe that immediately puts you at ease.

The menu leans confidently into comforting Portuguese flavors, and you can tell from the first bite that the kitchen knows exactly what it’s doing. One of the highlights that consistently stands out in reviews is the Francesinha Especial. Rich, filling, and full of character, it arrives at the table looking as good as it tastes. It’s the kind of dish that encourages slow eating and good conversation, especially when paired with a glass from the great wine list or a cold beer.

Sharing plates are clearly part of the experience here. The Misto de Presunto E Queijo is simple but satisfying, perfect for easing into the meal or nibbling alongside drinks. Add a portion of Batatas Fritas to the table and you’ve got something everyone can reach for, whether you’re dining with friends or family. For those who enjoy traditional Portuguese spirits, Xiripiti brings a bold, warming note to the experience and fits naturally into the restaurant’s laid-back rhythm.

Drinks are more than an afterthought at Sabores A Lenha. The Sangria is refreshing and well-balanced, making it a popular choice during warmer days in Figueira da Foz. Between the wine options, beer selection, and classic local flavors, the beverage side of the menu complements the food without ever overpowering it.

This is also a place that clearly understands different types of diners. It’s good for kids, with a dedicated kids’ menu that makes family meals feel easy rather than stressful. At the same time, the relaxed setting works just as well for travelers looking to enjoy an unpretentious local restaurant near central locations in town.

Overall, the atmosphere, consistent food quality, and friendly service explain why Sabores A Lenha earns positive reviews and repeat visits. It’s a restaurant that doesn’t try to impress with trends, but instead focuses on honest dishes, a welcoming menu, and an experience that feels genuinely local.

What customers say?

“ Try a very good Francesinha, a famous sandwich from Porto. Be prepared to wait a lot to be served but the food is good. At the end ask for Xiripiti, it's excellent and on the house. ”

Voltaremos! ”

“ The appetizers, wine, beer, meals, coffee and dessert were fantastic. They were child friendly and Google translate was helpful with the menu (we already knew what we wanted anyways). Highly recommend! ”

“ Nice Francesinha, in wood oven, very tasty. It's the house special. After finish ask for the Xiripiti, it's on the house. Why only 4 stars? Be prepared to wait. Very slow service. ”

- Victor Ventura -

“ The best Francesinha Ive ever try. I tried a lot in even in Porto but this one's are the best. You have to wait more than 30 minutes for it but trust me it's really worth it. Very tast sauce and the ingredients are really really good. Totally worth it. ”
